I think this illustrates the detente the industry and the pirates have reached.
- BitTorrent is just tricky enough that that
dumbassessome users can’t figure it out. - Lawsuits have deterred some tech savvy users who are bad at math, and given the industry a pound of flesh.
- Pirates who’ve cleared these hurdles have an easy enough time stealing things that there’s no pressure to create new methods of thievery.
A balance of power. Stable until someone shoots an archduke.
